Knoxify

You knew it was com­ing and now it’s here. Renaldo Wool­ridge, aka Swiper­boy and UT bas­ket­ball player, is famous for his hoops and his music videos. He just laid a new track, Never Leave You Like Kif­fin, that we hope South­ern Cal­i­for­nia radio sta­tions are play­ing non-stop. Good work Swiperboy.

For peo­ple who don’t bleed orange, the fierce, irra­tional loy­alty of Ten­nessee foot­ball fans is per­plex­ing. You might think we’re unbal­anced and over-the-top in our alle­giance to the Vols. You might think we’re blithely unaware of big­ger issues and that we ought to get our pri­or­i­ties in order. What we need is a real­ity check, right?

A cou­ple of weeks ago the Ten­nessean reported that A&E is in hot water over their use of Knoxville’s beloved song, Rocky Top. Sounds like some­one bet­ter pay up or it’s going to get rocky.

Yes­ter­day, Ney­land Sta­dium (and Knoxville) was cut from an ini­tial list of 70 sta­di­ums vying to host the World Cup in 2018 and 2022. For­tu­nately for our friends in Mid­dle Ten­nessee Nashville is still in the running.

Did you want the World Cup to be held at Ney­land Sta­dium? If an event is held in Nashville will you be road-trippin’ it?

The Knoxville Open, which is part of the Nation­wide Tour, tees off its first round of action tomor­row. Ven­ture out West to Fox Den Coun­try Club if you want to take in some of the action.

The Snow­board Rev­o­lu­tion crew recently made a trip to Ober Gatlin­burg by way of Arkansas and Mem­phis. I think they were sur­prised that there is actu­ally snow in Ten­nessee. Nod to Alex for the link.

Debut­ing in their inau­gural sea­son, the Knoxville Thun­der­bolts are quickly prov­ing their worth as they move up the ABA rank­ings. Until today I didn’t know we had such a team in our back­yard. Thanks for the tip Brent.
