Guide to Lakemoor Hills

Where is Lakemoor Hills?

Located just off Alcoa Highway, a few miles south of the University of Tennessee. Lakemoor Hills is easily accessible via Alcoa Highway, I-40, and I-140.

Lakemoor Hills Information

Lakemoor Hills is sometimes referred to as “South Sequoyah” due to its location across the river from Sequoyah Hills. And with over 250 homes, many with lake frontage, lake views, or ample acreage, Lakemoor Hills, like Sequoyah Hills, is a mighty fine place to call home.

Most of the homes in the neighborhood were built in the 60s and 70s and home styles include ranchers as well as many contemporary multi-levels, including some Barber McMurray designed homes. here are also some newer construction homes, most notably on lots with river frontage. While there are some smaller sized homes in the neighborhood, homes in Lakemoor Hills tend to be on the large side.

Location wise, Lakemoor Hills is convenient to lots of different areas. A short drive north on Alcoa Highway gets you to downtown, UT campus, UT Hospital and I-40, while a short trip south gets you to Tyson McGhee airport, I-140 and the city of Alcoa.

What Lakemoor Hills residents gain in scenery and lake frontage, they unfortunately have to sacrifice in convenient shopping and eating locales. There are several small convenience stores and a grocery store nearby on Alcoa Highway and several chain restaurants down by the airport, but for any specialty shopping or fine dining, residents will most likely have to head to downtown or west Knoxville.

Lakemoor Hills is currently zoned for Mount Olive Elementary School, South Doyle Middle School, and South Doyle High School.ool.

A few other tidbits regarding Lakemoor Hills:
    1) The temperature drops about 8 degrees in the summer when entering this neighborhood due to the wonderful, heavily treed area.
    2) The majority of homes are mid-sized.
    3) There is a neighborhood church with a walking trail available to anyone.
    4) There is a neighborhood park close by, Maloney Park (previously Maxey’s boat dock), on the lake with a walking trail.
    5) Except for the main road, Maloney, the neighborhood is great for walking, nearly a park in itself.
    6) Housing prices range anywhere from $150,000 to over $1 million, with the majority under $400,000. Quite a diverse population.
    7) Generally homeowners are quite consistent in that there is not a lot of turnover. Just recently a home came up for sale in which the original homeowner was one of the first residents and had lived there over 50 years. It is also rumored that this resident (or the residents family) were original landowners before the area was developed. There are occasions where the children of original homeowners elect to move to the neighborhood.
    8) Althought there are not a lot of stores close by, the near by Food City and CVS are like the old neighborhood grocer and pharmacy. In additon, it is very convenient to shop at the Fresh Market, Longs Drug Store, Mayos, Homberg areas.
