400,000 people are expected to attend Boomsday this year, the largest Labor Day fireworks display in the country. Sounds like you’ll be waiting in line a while for that cotton candy.
Or, you could win a pair of VIP passes from us and enjoy free food and see the show from the front row. Here’s how you can enter:
- Leave a comment below in this article with your favorite place to catch the fireworks.
- Get a Facebook account if you don’t have one already. Become a fan of Enjoy Knoxville.
- Complete both of those items by Friday, August 27th at 8:00am. We will randomly select 2 winners and they will get a pair of VIP passes for Boomsday. It’s that simple.
Good luck and thanks for being a loyal reader Knoxify.

Our favorite place to see the fireworks is from the BB&T building. It’s so close to the bridge! V.I.P. seats at this event would make this something my girls would never forget. And mom wouldn’t either!!!!
My family has always went up the hill from the Civic Coliseum to the police parking lot & spread out blankets on the grassy area. We roll the windows down & blast the music on the radio & have a little picnic while watching the fireworks. We aren’t close to all the action, but we aren’t the most social of people, so it worked out well. Fun times…
On top of the parking garage beside TBA 🙂 great place to hang out and picnic before the show begins!
In the B,B,and T building or at the Mabry-Hazen House. both awesome locations!
watched it for the first time with my wife last year. anywhere with her would be the best seats.
We always watch from Neyland; crowded but FUN! I would love a new view:)
We watch near where they play the music, so our ears can be blown OFF!
We always enjoy watching from the top of the Dwight Kessel parking garage.
My friend Brittany’s old apartment in Maplehurst… but she moved.. so now we need a new place to go!!
WE usually go by boat but unfortunately had to sell it earlier this year !
The best site to view Boomsday Fireworks is anywhere downtown, but preferably looking up.
We have two small children and have never been to Boomsday. Too scared with the little ones. I love fireworks and the only way I would get to enjoy them is with the VIP pass.
We like to watch the fireworks from the water. Nothing like viewing them while sitting on a boat!
The viewing floor of the Sunsphere is great if it is not too crowded!
I love being in the middle of the action! Going down early with a group of friends some portable chairs and blankets. We play cards and listen to the music.
Never been to Boomsday. Always wanted to go. Especially, now that we have two kids. We did take the on top of the Market Square parking garage for the 4th. It was the first time they saw fireworks. They had a blast.
You aren’t watching Boomsday right unless you watch it on a large boat filled with food and drinks.
The best place to catch the best view of the booms is definitely on a boat, but I really enjoyed sitting with my best friend and her boyfriend and the guy they set me up with along the low wall on the lake side of TBA!
I work in the First TN Building, so we like to go into the office where it is uncrowded and watch it there, although it muffles the sound quite a bit.
I love to catch the bankside down near the festivities behind the star1021 booth. I love being close and in the crowd of people. I’ve never seen it VIP, so that would be awesome and the kids would love it!
My favorite spot was always World’s Fair Park – nice and quiet but you still have a great view. It WAS my favorite spot – until we were fortunate enough to see them from a boat last year. I can’t imagine a better view than what we had!
My favorite place to watch fireworks is down on the river front on neiland dr. i love the atmosphere for the people the food the activites. its a great place for family and fun. i have been going since i was a child and continue going until i get old.
I just moved to Knoxville so this will be my first year attending Boomsday and I would love to get a VIP pass! 🙂
Have never been! Would love to check it out this year! My kids would love it!
I’m new to Knoxville so I have no idea where the best place is to catch fireworks but I hear Boomsday is a lot of fun!
I’m a fan of the downtown parking garage at the Knox County Jail on Main Street that faces the river. You walk down a short ramp that, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you would never think to walk down. However, there are obvious drawbacks to this plan of hanging out outside of jail. But, its never crowded and a front row view. See you there! Oh, and please behave.
Our favorite place has been our friends house next door to the United Way building! It was a fantastic long range view of the fireworks!
Random question…anybody know what they’ll do about Boomsday once they shut the bridge down for the reconstruction?
My favorite place is pretty much anywhere that my friends are. Once I watched it from out in East Knox, and another right along the river! A third time, I had to work in downtown, so I was hearing it but couldn’t see the fireworks. That was not my fave.
We love Knoxville, But never got to come to boomsday before but this year we are planning on it. Would be extremly nice to get to see it VIP I have loved fireworks since I was a little girl, such a magical time. It makes you feel that the world is a little better if only for a moment….
With 3 kiddos we have always been afraid to brave the crowds for Boomsday…VIP seating would be a GREAT first time experience for all of us!!
The energy of all those people does not compare to those last 5 to 10 mins before the fireworks start. The anxiety is unbelievable and then you hear the first boom. WOW!! Then the music and fireworks show takes you to a wonderland of fun. We are also sandwiched in a sea of people on Neyland Dr.
Volunteer Landing. No other view like it.
