November 11th is a day set aside to observe U.S. Veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve our great nation. Since Veterans Day occurs this week we thought we would highlight a few businesses that are giving back to veterans with discounts and/or freebies. If you know of other local businesses that are supporting Veterans Day leave a comment below.
Applebee’s – Veterans can eat free as long as they show some form of ID.
Outback Steakhouse – active duty military and veterans can get a free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage of choice.
Lowe’s and Home Depot – both stores offer a 10% discount to veterans on Veterans Day.
The Orangery – last year they let veterans eat for free but we’re not sure about this year. Give them a call before you go, 865.588.2964.

I am a world war two Marine Veteran and for the last three year have enjoyed a delicious meal at Applebee’s in Knoxville,Tn. I always take my wife with me and she orders from their very nice menu and we just have a lovely time
out with other veterans and friends.. we just want to thank Applebee’s for their recognition of vets and honoring them in this way.. when we go out during the year for dinner or lunch you can bet , Applebee’s is where we usually go .!!!
I am a WWII veteran having served as a B-17 gunner in the USAF, 8th AF, 34th BG, 7th BS based in Mendlesham, England during 1945. My wife (Dolores) and I plan to have lunch at Applebees tomorrow, Veterans Day. Last July we celebrated our 69th wedding anniverary. We reside in Tellico Village in Loudon,TN.
