Urban Dictionary describes people watching as: A Hobby in which you go out and watch people. The way they act, dress, & talk. Like bird watching except with people. Very entertaining.
I’m originally from Kingsport, TN and it’s no secret there that Fun Fest is the super bowl of people watching. Being graced by a mullet every 27 seconds is par for the course.
What about Knoxville? Is it Sundown? The Tennessee Valley Fair? Fellini Kroger?
What’s your favorite people watching event or place in Knoxville?

Market Square. There is quite an eclectic group of people walking around. P-pub and Oodles are great places to sit on the patio, have a beer and just watch.
Neyland Stadium on an autumn Saturday.
Market Square during Saturday farmers markets or Sunday brunch.
BOOMSDAY is the true East Tennessee people watching experience. I love taking people to their first Boomsday, some love it and some leave in total shock.
I personally suggest any of numerous bars on Chapman Hwy, Martin Mill, or Maryville Pike…people watching at it’s finest.
Boomsday, hands down. It’s such a great community event and family friendly, but I swear, the WEIRDEST people come out for it.
The counter facing the street at Pizza Palace on Magnolia at night. Prime time.
