Earlier this week the announcement was made that Sundown in the City will trim its schedule from 12 shows to 5.
Are you happy or sad to see to a shorter Sundown schedule?

A little sad. However, if they get some really good bands to make up for the shortened schedule – that might make me feel better.
Honestly, Sundown has gotten less and less enjoyable.
It seems to have gone from a way of encouraging people to go discover Market Square (which really isn’t needed at this point) to a teenage babysitting event (so many times in the last 2 years have I seen these teens in the back of police cars or puking in the square).
I was reading somewhere that the Market Square restaurants and bars don’t really like it too much because people just sit on the patio seats and don’t order much.
The crowds aren’t fun, I’m actually glad that I’ll be able to hang out on Market Square with my buds on Thursday and not need to deal with the crazy crowd.
Goodness I sound crotchety!
I agree with Rob in that, if they get some quality acts, it will be worth it. I’ve been going to the shows there for a long while now, and its getting tougher and tougher to actually want to go anymore. Too many people, but more importantly, too many people who really don’t go for the bands.
Getting better acts will definitely make seeing fewer shows worth it.
you whippersnappers. one early year when i worked it, it was 26 weeks long. no joke.
in all seriousness, i think a shortening from 12 is fine. i would think they would have gone to 8 or 6, but what do i know? i can’t stand crowds so i don’t go anymore.
I thinks it’s a bit of a letdown, but at the same time, I can understand that the logistics of dealing with a crowd that large for that many weeks in a row takes a toll on folks. So I will miss the weekly version, but if they make up for quantity with quality, I suppose I will survive!
Only issue is that with the shortened schedule it will create a larger youth presence on the couple of dates that scheduled, due to less of a variety of music, many kids will go just to go, rather than wait for preferred shows
i actually wish that it wasnt shorter becaus it gave everybody something to do and enjoy every Thursday.
